Stargate SG-1: Ending with a preposition 5.00/5 (100.00%) 7 votes

Everyday spoken language is often grammatically incorrect — but when those quirks are purposely written into a television script to give the scene a more conversational tone, it can be a little annoying. What we really need is for some TV characters to speak up for proper grammar.

That’s just what they did on Stargate SG-1 back in 2002, in the episode “The Other Guys.” (This actually aired, and didn’t appear only in a blooper/gag reel.)

“You ended that sentence with a preposition”

“No matter what you have endured, you have never experienced the likes of what Anubis is capable of.” - First Prime Her’ak (Michael Adamthwaite)

“You ended that sentence with a preposition! Bastard.” - Colonel Jack O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson)
